The 2018 Luoyang International Summit of Ancient Capitals was held from 19 April to 22 April, 2018 in Luoyang City, Henan Province, China, says a press release. This event was jointly hosted by Luoyang Municipal Government, Chinese Museums Association, Henan Provincial Administration of Cultural Heritage, and Society of Chinese Ancient Capitals.
Experts and professionals from Bangladesh, Cambodia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Mongolia, Singapore, Uzbekistan, Pakistan, Egypt, Nepal, Denmark, United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, Slovenia, Luxembourg, Peru, United States, Canada and China and other countries, the International Council of Museums, the Europa Nostra as well as many other international organizations gathered in the millennial ancient capital of Luoyang to discuss topics such as the sustainable use of the heritage of ancient capitals, international cooperation in protecting this heritage, and the role and mission of museums in promoting culture and history. Jahangir Hussain, Chairperson, International Council of Museums (ICOM), Bangladesh National Committee attended the summit and presented the paper titled- The Role and Mission of Museums in Promoting Culture in Bangladesh.
As a result of this international forum the Luoyang Declaration of the International Ancient Capitals Forum has been formulated.
The declaration is as follows---build platforms for exchange and expand areas for cooperation, create innovative approaches to the scientific protection of ancient heritage; and collect and share the knowledge and the lessons of the ancient capitals for the benefit of human civilization. n
