Afsana Mimi, country's renowned thespian and cultural personality, has recently been appointed as one of the departmental directors of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy for the next three years.
Confirming the news to Dhaka Courier, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy public relations officer Hasan Mahmud informed that the Public Administration Ministry has issued a gazette notification on November 11 in this regard and she signed the contract on the same date. After her joining, director general of BSA Liaquat Ali Lucky will handover Mimi the overall responsibilities of her allotted department.
With her enthralling performances on television and stage since the 90's, Afsana Mimi gained immense popularity among the viewers. She acted on stage with many drama troupes, most notably with Nagarik Natya Shampradaya and Prachyanat. Her breakthrough in television came up with legendary director Humayun Ahmed's popular drama series Kothao Keu Nei. Later as a director herself, she debuted with the drama series Bondhon at Ekushey Television in 2000, which is considered as one of the best television drama series made in the last two decades. She went on directing other successful drama series including Grihogolpo, Doll's House, Kachher Manush, Poush Falguner Pala and more, from her production house Green Sreen. She also explored opportunities in films with diversified roles in Chitra Nadir Pare, Nodir Naam Modhumoti, Priyotomeshu and others.
