Amid the evolving artistic currents of Bangladesh, exhibitions often become more than occasions for displaying artworks; they emerge as spaces where ideas, experiences, and creative perspectives intersect. Tribandhon, currently on view at La Galerie of Alliance Française de Dhaka, brings together the works of three emerging artists-Md Fariaz Emran, Niharika Awhona Barsaat, and Surovi Akter. Curated by artist Fariha Zeba, the exhibition presents three distinctive artistic practices united by a shared attentiveness to human experience, memory, and observation.

The exhibition was inaugurated on 12 June 2026 in the presence of distinguished guests, prominent Bangladeshi artists Saidul Haque Juise, Rashid Amin, and Anisuzzaman Anis. Alliance Française de Dhaka Director François Chambraud was also present at the occasion, reflecting the institution's continued support for emerging artistic voices.

The title Tribandhon-which suggests a bond among three-beautifully captures the spirit of the exhibition. Supported by Gallery Cosmos, the exhibition creates a platform where three individual artistic journeys come together in a shared dialogue on identity, nature, memory, and human connection.

Niharika Awhona Barsaat's paintings unfold through poetic visual narratives inspired by nature and personal experience. Birds, trees, and feminine figures frequently inhabit her compositions, creating spaces where growth, healing, and self-discovery coexist. Currently studying Painting at Banaras Hindu University, India, she employs layered imagery that encourages viewers to reflect on humanity's relationship with the natural world.

Surovi Akter's artistic practice centres on one of the most expressive elements of the human face-the eye. Working primarily with red ballpoint pen and coloured pencil on brown paper, she creates portraits that explore emotion, perception, and human connection. Her carefully rendered works invite viewers to pause and engage with the psychological depth and individuality reflected in each gaze.

Drawing inspiration from the streets of Dhaka, Md Fariaz Emran focuses on the lives of rickshaw pullers and other often-overlooked urban figures. Through expressive watercolour techniques and figure-centred compositions, he captures moments of dignity, resilience, and quiet strength. His works offer a thoughtful reflection on labour, identity, and the unseen individuals who shape the rhythm of city life.

What makes Tribandhon engaging is the way these diverse artistic voices complement one another. Moving between nature and city, introspection and observation, the exhibition presents a layered portrait of contemporary experience through three distinct perspectives.

More than a group exhibition, Tribandhon demonstrates how art can create meaningful connections between people, places, and ideas. Through their individual yet interconnected practices, the three artists offer viewers a thoughtful and rewarding encounter with the world around them.
