Takir Hossain, a reputed art critic in the country and also editor of the Art and Culture Department of The Daily Observer is taking part in a writers' residency programme of AIR Litteratur Vastra Gotaland, Stromstad, Sweden. During his stay in Stromstad, he has been mostly concentrating on his book on contemporary art scene in Europe with a focus on modern Scandinavian trend in fine art, prospects and challenges for local art galleries as well as local artists in Sweden. He has been discussing with some artists, art critics, curators at art galleries and museums with the help of his friend Kristian Carlsson, who is based in Malmo. Through his residency and visit to other European countries, he will have gathered necessary inputs for his book. In addition to it, he will take part in dialogue on art with a focus on Bangladesh, Asia and Europe with writers, artists, cultural profiles in Stromstad. Later, he will publish a series of articles in journals in Bangladesh.
Takir's keen interests are on art and literature. As an art critic, his criticisms have been incorporated in many reputed artists' books, brochures, national and international art journals as well as many other varied forms of creative publication. He has also graced the position of a jury member in a number of art competitions and carnivals. In his vibrant career he has covered several international exhibitions held in different countries across Europe and Asia.
