On the occasion of the 73rd anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945, a significant event was held at the RCSC (Russian Centre of Science and Culture) in Dhanmondi. The Association of Bangladeshi graduates from Russian Universities and the Bangladesh-Russian Friendship Society collaborated for the seamless arrangement of the event.

President of the Alumni Association Taqsem Ahmed Khan, vice-president of the Friendship Society Professor Md. Shahidullah Sikder and chairman of Muktijuddho Academy Abul Kalam Azad and military attaché of the Russian Embassy S.S. Kurchenko were present as honourary guests at the event.

The celebration of the Victory Day took place in the form of an open discussion on "The Importance of the Soviet Union in Defeating Fascist Germany in World War II". During the event the head of the RCSC A.P. Demin congratulated the participants on the great holiday in the Russian Federation - the Victory Day in the Great Patriotic War, expressed gratitude to the graduates for their sincere support in this important event.

President of the Alumni Association, Taqsem A. Khan in his speech noted the decisive importance of the victory of the Soviet Union in the defeating of fascism in Europe. He claimed that the graduates present at the event knew how important this holiday has been for modern Russia. Graduates also highly appreciated the work of the Russian Centre of Science and Culture in strengthening the friendly ties between the peoples of Russia and Bangladesh and expressed their willingness to participate in joint activities with the RCSC.

Vice-President of the Friendship Society, Md. Shahidullah Sikder discussed the importance of the Soviet Union in the gaining of independence of the People's Republic of Bangladesh and the desire of the Friendship Society to preserve and develop friendly relations between the two countries.
