Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy and Bangladesh Nrittashilpi Sangstha have jointly planned celebrations porgrammes for dance artiste Bulbul Chowdhury's birth centenary on January 1 next year. A press conference was held on December 27 at National Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, Segunbagicha in the capital to make this announcement. The two cultural organizations will hold programmes throughout 2019 to mark the birth centenary of Bubul Chowdhury. Liaquat Ali Lukcy, director general of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy said, "In our land the name of Bulbul Chowdhury comes right after Rabindranath Tagore to present individual hallmarks in dancing."
After the inauguration on the first of January events would include a book launching bringing forth tributary letter penned by dance researchers of the country, an International Dance Festival in April, a festival for dance drama, countrywide dance competition, seminar on dance practices of Bulbul Chowdhury, felicitation of noted artistes among others.
On behalf of Bangladesh Nrittashilpi Sangstha present at the press conference was its president Minu Haque. Also present at the press conference were dance artiste Amanul Haque, Bangladesh Nrittashilpi Sangstha general secretary Mahfuzur Rahman, Shilpakala Academy secretary Md Badrul Anam Bhuiyan and directors Dr Kazi Asaduzzaman, Jashim Uddin and Sohrab Uddin.
