Celebrating the 101st birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation and the founding president of Bangladesh Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Children's Day, cultural organizations arranged seminars and cultural events on Wednesday.

Renowned organizations including Bangladesh National Museum, Bangla Academy, Liberation War Museum, Bangladesh Abritti Samannay Parishad, Bangladesh Sangeet Sangathan Samannay Parishad, Bangladesh Group Theatre Federation and others arranged programmes throughout the day, marking the glorious occasion.

Bangla Academy organised a seminar marking both the occasions, at its AKSB (Abdul Karim Sahitya Bisharad) Auditorium on Wednesday.

Professor Abu Md Delwar Hossain and writer Anisul Hoque attended the programme as discussants, while Bangla Academy director general Habibullah Siraji delivered the welcome speech and Professor Rashid Askari presented the key-note speech at the programme.

The seminar was presided over by Bangla Academy director general Shamsuzzaman Khan.

Bangladesh National Museum organised a special seminar shedding spotlight on the historic 7th March speech of Bangabandhu, at its Sufia Kamal Auditorium in the morning.

State minister for cultural affairs KM Khalid joined the seminar as the chief guest.

Presided over by former Dhaka University vice-chancellor and president of the National Museum board of trustees Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique, the programme was joined by Md Badrul Arefin, secretary of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs as the special guest.

Bangladesh National Museum director general Khondoker Mostafizur Rahman and others joined and spoke at the seminar, while the general secretary of Bangabandhu Parishad Dr SA Malek presented the keynote speech.

Earlier, the attendees inaugurated a new bust at the premise of the museum and placed floral wreaths at the sculpture of Bangabandhu at its lounge.

Liberation War Museum organised a cultural programme at its auditorium observing both the occasions, participated and performed by students from different schools namely Kalyanpur Girls' School and College, Saleha School and College, Hazrat Shah Ali Model High School, Sher-E-Bangla Nagar Govt. Girls' High School, Kachi-Kanchar Mela and others.

Bangladesh Abritti Samannay Parishad streamed a programme live on its Facebook page in the evening, showcasing a special recitation production titled Swadhinatar Amar Kabyo featuring poems by popular poets, the historic March 7 speech and others.

Bangladesh Sangeet Sangathan Samannay Parishad streamed a live cultural programme titled Chiranjib Bangabandhu on its Facebook page at 8 pm.

Dhali Mohammad Delwar, Sardar Rahmatullah and Iffat Ara Nargis rendered songs at the event which was anchored by eminent Nazrul Sangeet exponent Sujit Mustafa.

Legendary poet Nirmalendu Goon also joined the special event as the solo discussant.

Bangladesh Group Theatre Federation inaugurated a special 10-day drama festival at the Dr Nilima Ibrahim Auditorium of Bangladesh Mohila Somiti, Baily Road in the capital.

Observing the Birth Centenary of Bangabandhu and the Golden Jubilee celebration of Independence, the festival was inaugurated by eminent thespians and cultural personalities including 'Mancha Sarathi' Ataur Rahman, Mamunur Rashid, Sara Zaker and M Hamid.

Dedicated to ten prolific cultural personalities of Bangladesh who have passed away during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic including professor Anisuzzaman, Kamal Lohani, Sahara Khatun, Aly Zaker, KS Firoze, Abdul Kader, Mujibur Rahman Dilu, Ali Afroze Pinu, Sadek Bachchu and Mannan Hira - the festival is showcasing a total of ten plays in the festival, each at 7 pm at the venue till March 26.
