Peyala: The T in Trendy

No one can go wrong with the customised array of perfect wraps, salad bowls, Nutella desserts and beverages from Peyala


The opening of Peyala, the new restaurant brand of MGH Restaurants Private Ltd (MRPL), in the capital’s Gulshan 2 area caused a bit of a buzz around the city with its fresh, tasty and delicious meals at a reasonable price.


Situated on the ground floor of Gulshan 2 DCC market, Peyala is another stepping stone in the journey of MGH Restaurants which has been operating for the last 10 years with its flagship brands Nando’s and Barista Lavazza.


The Peyala outlet in Gulshan 2, just the first of a planned chain of contemporary, chic eateries across Dhaka, took off on 1st June 2016. As you walk in, the café looks small, but actually comfortably accommodates around 30 guests.


The restaurant has a Do It Yourself (DIY) station through which guests can customize their own version of wraps and salads.


Shahin Mohammed ShamiulHaque, head of business, MRPL, told the Dhaka Courier: “The innovative idea of establishing the fast-casual dining came from our Managing Director Anis Ahmed, who has an ardent and refined interest in food and different types of beverages. His passion for traveling the world and exploring both the traditional and modern food items made him set up Peyala, which is more than a café.”


He said the fast-casual dining establishment has already built up a unique reputation by offering 17 types of sweet delights to customers with a sweet tooth. “Our signature GulabJamun cheesecake has been an instant hit since inception, and now our signature four-layered Chocolate Nutella Cake is also gaining loyal admirers. Peyala constantly strives to bring customers something new and tasty.”


Arif Mustafa, head of business operation at Peyala, added: “I must say that Peyala is the best place in the city for Nutella desserts.”


“Recently, we celebrated World Nutella day, a festival that lasted from the 7th-11th February where we sold five new exciting Nutella infused desserts — Nutella Patishapta pita, Nutella Chocolate Chip Brownie, Nutella & Oreo Mousse, Nutella and Strawberry Crème Brulee and Nutella Chocolate Lava Cake with Ice-cream.”


The event was a success and Peyala received remarkable complements from its customers, Arif continued.


The restaurant also offers 20 types of savory local and foreign flavors in chicken, beef and vegetable line-up which can be made into mouthwatering wraps or salad bowls.


The atmosphere is fashionably contemporary and Peyala has a decidedly modern take on food. From the famous Chittagonian Beef Bhuna to Japanese Teriyaki chicken or Chinese Cauliflower Manchurian, Peyala offers three different flavors every day throughout the week. The wraps are named Boro and Mejo, giving the portions a familiar twist. Mejo Wrap or Salad Bowl is priced at BDT 180 and Boro Wrap is BDT 250 (excluding VAT).


Mr. Shahin said Peyala focuses on quality and freshness. The food is cooked and brought several times a day from a state-of-the-art kitchen nearby, he said.


“Processing tasty and quality meals are our first priority and we always follow the healthiest way to prepare our food items, especially the non-vegetarian side-dishes,” said Shahin.


He continued: “Peyala also has a special place for their vegetarian customers and we have separate places for preparing vegetarian and non-vegetarian items in our kitchen. Currently, we offer five different vegetarian flavours to our customers.”


Peyala is also famous for its Gorom and ThandaPeyala. They sell their famous Masala Cha in the nostalgic glass cup in a fast casual restaurant setting.


Peyala aims to expand rapidly in new locations this year to reach and delight more customers.


Our take: if you hanker after rice with every meal, this may not be your cup of tea. But if you like mouthwatering fast-casual food in a trendy setting, suitable for office executives out for a bite as well as friends relaxing after hours, Peyala is just the place for you.
