ICAB gets new President, Vice Presidents

Dewan Nurul Islam has been elected President while Moddassar Ahmed Siddique, Mahmudul Hasan Khusru and Md Mahamud Hosain have been elected vice-presidents of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB) for the next one year.

 

The election was held at a council meeting of the ICAB held on Sunday before its Annual General Meeting, said a press release signed by ICAB Secretary Maj Gen (retd) Muhammad Imrul Quayes on Monday.

 

The newly elected president and the vice-presidents will work for professional enhancement of the ICAB in the year of 2018, the release added.

 

Short Profile of ICAB President:

 

Mr. Dewan Nurul Islam FCA is the managing director of Grant Thornton Consulting Bangladesh limited, one of the world’s leading advisory firms. He is also chairman of National Asset Management Limited, an asset management company licensed by BSEC.

 

He did his MBA in finance with distinction from the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), Australia and qualified as a chartered accountant in 1990. Mr. Dewan has extensive senior level management experience with large local corporates, MNC’s and financial institutions in the country and abroad.

 

He is in ICAB Council since 2013 and was vice president of ICAB in 2014. He participates in TV programs regularly as capital market and business analyst and is a frequent contributor to leading national dailies on business and economic issues.

 

He served as a member of the board of directors for a number of private and public sector organisations. He was a board director of Jamuna Oil Company Limited. He was appointed  a member of the board of directors of Bangladesh Development Bank Limited (BDBL), later assumed the position of chairman of the audit committee and rose to become the chairman of the board of directors of the bank.
