Energy Secretary Nazimuddin gets Bangabandhu National Agriculture Award

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina hands over Bangabandhu National Agriculture Award to Nazimuddin Chowdhury, Secretary of Energy and Mineral Resources Division, for his outstanding contributions in the agriculture and livestock sector. Agriculture Minister Matia Chowdhury and Fisheries and Livestock Minister Narayan Chandra Chanda were present at the award ceremony held at Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital on 1 March


Secretary of Energy and Mineral Resources Division Nazimuddin Chowdhury was awarded Bangabandhu Jatiya Krishi Puroshkar-1423 (Bangabandhu National Agriculture Award), the highest state recognition in the agriculture sector.


Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina handed over the award to Nazimuddin on Thursday for his outstanding contribution to the country’s agriculture sector.


Apart from being a high-level government official, Nazimuddin is contributing to the agricultural sector. He established a multipurpose firm at his village home at Dhalchar at Monpura upazila in Bhola.


The firm grows paddy, sunflower and different agricultural products. Buffalo, cow, sheep, goat and poultry items are also produced in the firm set up in 2002.


In reaction, Nazimuddin said, “I feel honoured to get the award. I also feel encouraged to contribute more to the agricultural sector. There are solar panels and two biogas plants in my firm used for producing energy. This can be replicated by others in the country.”


Nazimuddin obtained his master’s degree in history from Dhaka University. An officer of 1984 batch of the BCS administration cadre, he obtained post graduation from a renowned university in the USA. He served in various ministries.
