DIFF to launch conference of Asian Film Critics

The Dhaka International Film Festival or DIFF is set to be held from January 12 to 20 next year. This will be the sixteenth edition of the festival where a number of attractions will make debut. Firstly comes the Conference of Asian Film Critics. The conference is probably the first one in history. Apart from that the reserved Bangladeshi Panorama section will be launched from this edition. Ten best films under this section will be honoured while the best director and best film from amongst these will be selected by, FIPRESCI, the apex body of international film critics. One hundred and seventy films from sixty countries have already been selected for screening in the festival.

 

In this edition the jury panel will combine art critics, researchers, writers from eight countries. They include Sydney Levine and Gary Springer from USA, Girish Kasaravalli of India, Andrea Morghen of Italy, Mohammad Hassan Amir Yousefi, Arun Deo Joshi from Nepal will be taking part in the festival. One juror each from Norway, Russia and Finland are also due to take part. From Bangladesh Morshedul Islam, Imtiaz Ahmed, Nurul Alam Atik and Bipasha Hayat will take part in the jury board. Bipasha will be the jury member in the Women’s Film section.

 

The Conference of Asian Film Critics will be held on January 15 and 16. Fourth Dhaka International Conference on Women in Cinema will also be held as part of the festival. While everything have been prepared, a press conference will be held soon to give further details about the festival.
