Dhaka Cine Workshop to complement festival

The 8th Dhaka Cine Workshop has started in the city. With the Dhaka International Film Festival starting soon this workshop looks to initiate the preparations amidst the local film fraternity ahead of time. The workshop will continue till January 20, on which day the film festival will also close. Till then the workshop will run from 9 in the morning till 6 in the evening everyday.


On the first day of the workshop, that is January 5, Ovidio Salazar, course director of the workshop introduced himself to the participants, which number around thirty-five this year. More than twenty participants have come from abroad. Organised by International Film Critics Association of Bangladesh (IFCAB) and Pathshala-South Asian Media Institute the workshop is going on at Pathshala’s campus at Road 15/A, Dhanmondi.


The two-week long course on filmmaking has been designed to be a full-fledged certificate course on films. The topics include film criticism, filmmaking, participations at international film festival and collection of funds. It chiefly focuses on aspiring young filmmakers of the world. After the introductions on the opening day Ovidio went on to get insight into the journey of filmmaking of the participating youngsters till now, their future plans and expectations and opinions about filmmaking.
