Conference on improving museums in the digital age

Conference on “Integration and Sharing: International Forum on Innovation and Development of Museums under the Internet Environment” was held in Taiyuan, Shanxi Province, China.

 

On the occasion of “2017 International Conference on Integrated Development of Digital Publishing and Digital Libraries (CDPDL)” several seminars were held in China recently. To promote the innovation and development of museums under the Internet Environment, and to promote international cultural exchanges and sharing of resources, China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) organised the conference from 16-21 August, 2017 in Taiyuan, China.

 

About 1300 experts in culture and museum institutions, libraries, publishing houses and universities from different countries of the world took part in the conference. Jahangir Hussain, Curator, Asiatic Society Heritage Museum, Former Keeper (Director) of Bangladesh National Museum and Chairperson of ICOM-Bangladesh and Board member ICOM ASPAC and Dr Dilara Begum, Associate Professor and Chairperson, Department of Library and Information Science, East West University attended the conference from Bangladesh.

 

Jahangir Hussain presented the paper on “Digitalization in the Bangladesh National Museum” while Dr. Dilara Begum presented paper on “Open access Repositories in Bangladesh: Opportunities and Challenges” in the conference.

 

Jahangir Hussain as Chairperson of ICOM, Bangladesh National Committee also attended the First Work Meeting of Initiative of China -South Asia Museums Cooperation in Collection, Digitalization and Preservation. The meeting was presided over by Professor Dr An Laishun, Vice President, International Council of Museums (ICOM) and Vice President and Secretary General, Chinese Museums Association. Dr Muhammad Akhter Javed, Chairperson of ICOM-Pakistan; General Bijaya Kumar Shahi, Chairperson, ICOM- Nepal: Chunrong Li, GM, CNKI and Gang Wang Chairman, BZH DTC, China were present in the meeting. In the conference intellectual property issues, budget and funding were discussed.
