Awardees with guests at the award giving ceremony
The Citi Ananda Alo Sahitya Puroshkar 2017 was officially conferred on March 8 at Channel i Bhavan in the capital. The award was given for the ninth annual time in the presence of Shamsuzzaman Khan, director general of Bangla Academy; Rezanur Rahman, editor of Ananda Alo; Faridur Reza Sagar, president of Ananda Alo’s editorial board; Sajedul Islam, country treasurer of Citibank NA and many other members of cultural circle.
This year’s recipients include Muntasir Mamun in the essayist category for his book on the Brahmin Movement in nineteenth century Bangladesh. Muhammad Samad and Habibullah Sirajee were awarded in the poetry category for their books “Joe” and “Shat Desher Kobita.” Hashem Khan was awarded in the children’s fiction category for his novel “Hashem Khan-Er Chobir Golpo Modhubok”. Lutfor Rahman Riton was also awarded in this category for his book “Lal Zebrar Magic.” As novelists Anisul Haque and Prashanta Mridha were awarded for their respective publications- “Priyo Ei Prithibi Chere” and “Dugdugir Ashar.”
Three promising writers have been awarded in the final category for debut writers. Farid Ahmed for his book “Prokashnama O Humayun Ahmed,” Ditio Syed Haque for his book “Megh O Babar Kichu Kotha” and Shanarei Devi Shanu for her book “Neel Foring Kabbo” got the awards in this category.
