A high-level delegation from Singapore’s Institute of South Asian Studies, a top-rated research institute attached to the National University of Singapore, was in Dhaka last week, to seek out opportunities for expanding its coverage of Bangladesh in the days ahead. Led by the chair of its management board Ambassador L Pillai and principal research fellow Iftekhar A. Chowdhury, the team held fruitful talks during the visit.

On the eve of their departure, Editor-in-Chief of Dhaka Courier and UNB Enayetullah Khan hosted a reception for the ISAS team at his Baridhara residence. A cool early monsoon evening breeze complemented the intimate setting, and as the delegation engaged and interacted with select group of invitees from the Dhaka intelligentsia, you could tell spirits were high and the team was indeed happily signing off on what must have been a very successful visit. We now await the results, which you will read about on these pages.

Ministers, Members of Parliament, diplomats, editors, business leaders and high civil and military officials attended the event.
