Ruhul Karim portrays human visages

Dhaka Art Center has organised a solo printmaking exhibition titled “Living with the Expressions”, featuring the works of promising printmaker Ruhul Karim Rumee. The opening ceremony was held on June 30.

 

Dr. Dipu Moni, minister of Ministryof Foreign Affairs was present as chief guest. Artist Rafiqun Nabi inaugurated the exhibition. Abul Barq Alvi, head of Printmaking Department, the Faculty of Fine Arts, Dhaka University and Lauren Lovelace, director of the American Center, Dhaka were present as special guests.

 

Rumee’s woodcut prints, lithographs and etchings have vividly portrayed human faces, nature and varied objects like rickshaw and wheels. He also experiments with amorphous forms and compositions, which have been used in his prints.

 

Portraits of Rabindranath Tagore have come up in a variety of styles and forms while the outlines explore human thoughts. A few portraits of common faces narrate the tales of human life with their notes of wish, pleasure and gloom.

 

The exhibition will continue till July 10.
